One-to-one Online Tuition

We recognise that success ultimately depends on the student's effort, but we firmly believe that the right guidance can unlock opportunities and foster confidence at every stage. We are a closely coordinated team of tutors, many of whom have plenty experience as private tutors and all are rigorously selected for their expertise and experience, ensuring each student receives trusted support.

Matching you with a tutor

Oxbridge Mathematics was founded on the principle that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to education, we have identified three key components that are vital for a successful tutor-student match:

Tutoring Details
Our Three-Stage Matching Process
Initial Consultation
Matching You With a Tutor
Feedback and Monitoring
Initial Video or Phone Call

We begin by understanding each student’s unique requirements through a detailed consultation. Whether it’s a phone call or a video session, this interaction is designed to capture the goals and expectations of both the student and their parents.

Your Unique Needs

Recognising that no two students are the same, we ensure our approach is tailored to suit individual needs. Some students may need targeted help with specific areas, while others benefit from comprehensive support to build a strong foundation. Through discussions with the founders, we clarify the purpose and set clear objectives for the tutoring programme, laying the groundwork for success.

Mock Examination

For a deeper insight into a student’s capabilities, we may recommend an optional mock examination. This allows us to identify strengths and areas for improvement, and we always share detailed feedback alongside realistic guidance to ensure we find the ideal tutor match.

Tailored Around Your Timetable

With extensive experience in international education systems, we align our tutoring schedule to the student’s availability and preferences. Our tutors are flexible and committed to meeting these requirements.

We Know Our Tutors' Strengths

We take great pride in our tutors and invest significant time in interviewing each one to understand their strengths, teaching methods, and academic achievements. This meticulous process ensures that we pair students with tutors who not only meet their objectives but also complement their learning style.

How We Select Our Tutors

Unlike many tuition services, we maintain rigorous standards for selecting Oxbridge Maths tutors. Being a current or former student at Oxbridge is just the beginning of the journey. Tutors undergo a thorough application process, followed by an in-depth interview with the founders, where their commitment, experience, expertise and availability are assessed. They are also asked to deliver a teaching demonstration on a topic of our choice, where we evaluate their ability to communicate both conceptual ideas and methodical approaches. We prioritise tutors who share a genuine enthusiasm for the subject and align with our values.

We Keep You Informed

After the first session, our tutors provide parents with an overview of the lesson and outline a plan for future progress. Regular updates are shared on a monthly basis, highlighting key achievements, areas of improvement, and the focus for upcoming lessons. This consistent communication ensures everyone remains aligned and informed throughout the tutoring journey.

Exams We Cover

Our one-on-one tuition has consistently helped students excel in (I)GCSE, A-Level, and IB Mathematics, including Further Mathematics. With an international presence, we are well-acquainted with the unique content and exam formats of all major exam boards. Our tutors are screened to ensure they are fully versed in the specific requirements of your exam board.

Pearson Edexcel: The only privately owned examination board in the UK, provides IGCSEs and International A-Levels
AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance): Offers UK-based and international GCSEs and A-Levels. It is the most popular exam board for GCSEs, with 42.9% of schools and colleges choosing it in 2021.
OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations): Part of Cambridge Assessment, OCR offers GCSEs and A-Levels. It is known for its challenging questions and blend of traditional and modern assessment methods.
International Baccalaureate (IB): Delivers a well-rounded, globally recognised curriculum designed to develop independent learners and critical thinkers.
Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE): Offers IGCSEs and International A-Levels.
WJEC (Welsh Joint Education Committee): Provides GCSEs and A-Levels in Wales, including Eduqas for English-speaking regions

We Tutor at all Abilities

We recognise that every student has unique strengths and learning needs. Our expertise in Mathematics allows us to support a diverse range of learners, from those looking to start the course content from first principles to those seeking advanced extension to enhance their already strong performance.

Personalised Support

We recognise that achieving top grades is a priority for students, but balancing academics with university applications, extracurricular activities, and personal life can be challenging. To ease this pressure, we tailor our teaching to address the unique features of each exam board while focusing on common mistake areas. This ensures that every lesson is a valuable step towards making exams more approachable and intuitive.

For students who prefer additional practice, we are happy to provide homework assignments. To keep parents and students informed, we also offer optional monthly feedback to monitor progress and ensure the student is on track to achieve their goals.

A Testimonial From One of Our Students

"I was struggling with the Newton-Raphson method at school and only planned to have a few tutoring sessions. But after just a couple of lessons with my tutor, Xihang, I realised how much more confident I could become with the right support. Over the past year, Xihang has not only helped me with the topics I found difficult but has also provided extension materials to challenge me. He quickly identified that I grasp concepts best when they are presented graphically, and this approach made all the difference with the Newton-Raphson method. By drawing out the iterative process and seeing how the tangents converge to a solution, the method finally clicked for me. Thank you so much to Oxbridge Maths, I hope I can make the team proud and realise my dream of studying Computer Science at Cambridge!"

Oxford and Cambridge Entry Tuition

Oxford and Cambridge Mathematics programs rank among the most competitive university applications worldwide. Our tutors, having firsthand experience studying Mathematics at these prestigious institutions, are uniquely equipped to guide students through the rigorous application process.

Mock Interview Preparation

We have spoken with current and former Oxford students to gain insight into their experiences with the interview process. While the interview is often considered the most daunting part of the application, it is also an invaluable opportunity to showcase your thought process and engage in mathematical problem-solving. Our tutors have access to a comprehensive and exclusive database of interview questions, covering topics such as number theory, logic, puzzles, game theory, graph sketching, and much more—questions that cannot be found online. Crucially, we provide detailed feedback after each mock interview, allowing students to identify areas for improvement. Students can also request specific topics they wish to focus on, tailoring the experience to their needs. Through multiple mock interviews, students will refine their mathematical communication skills and develop the confidence to approach their actual interviews with clarity and poise.

STEP Tuition

Each student receives a tailored plan based on their current level of understanding and desired areas of focus. We cover all topics in the official STEP II/III syllabus, with a focus on tackling difficult problem sets that reflect the depth and style of the actual exam. Our tutor selection process for the Cambridge admissions programme is different from all other services we offer. Each tutor undergoes a rigorous two-round interview process, followed by a mock STEP lesson to demonstrate their teaching ability and adaptability. All tutors must have prior experience in STEP tuition, and in some cases, we spend months finding the ideal tutor to teach our students.

Our tutors work through questions methodically, teaching students to master the technical skills needed to achieve a grade 1 under time pressure. Each lesson is focused on improving mathematical rigor, exam technique, understanding common pitfalls, and developing a clear strategy to maximise marks.

MAT Tuition

Our one-on-one MAT tuition leverages our Oxford tutors' experience of the exam’s demands to help students achieve their best. In these sessions, we focus on building a thorough command of the official syllabus provided by Oxford University, identifying and addressing weak areas, and systematically working through past papers to build familiarity.

Our tutors break down the student's problem-solving approach to refine their technique, offering advice on time management and how to tackle both multiple-choice and fully written questions effectively. With experience in identifying the subtle cues embedded in MAT questions, we guide students in recognising patterns, applying appropriate strategies, and writing solutions that meet the rigour expected by examiners.
